I have no idea why I just cannot have a normal title. If I had a normal title, today it would read:
"Packing Water Bottles in Lunchboxes"
Because that is what today's post is all about: How I have made the switch in my girls' lunches from purchasing juice boxes and Capri Suns, to packing chilled re-usable water bottles.
I saw these adorable little H2O Mini water bottles in Walmart, and I just could not resist them! Originally, I had purchased them to encourage our daughters to drink more water at home. And, isn't it funny how necessity is the mother of invention? (Didn't I just say that the other day?) Because one morning, I was completely out of Capri Suns, and used the water bottles in a pinch.
In the beginning, I kept waiting for my daughters to complain about the water bottles. I kept waiting for them to whine about not having some sort of juice for lunch.
But, guess what? They actually LIKE having the water bottles! I am sad to say that their preference for the water bottles SHOCKS me!!! They PREFER the water bottles!!
Wait a minute...Are these the same girls who BEG for Coke slushes at Sonic...Medium size? Are these the same girls whose mama might, or might not, be addicted to Coca Cola?
Well, whatever weird wrinkle in the atmosphere has allowed this wonderful change--I am going with it!
Cha-Ching!!!
- Instead of my girls getting empty juice calories at lunch--they are DRINKING WATER!
- Instead of spending $$$ on juice boxes, I am sending FREE WATER!
- Instead of having to remember to purchase more juice boxes, I just REFILL BOTTLES!
- I am helping to save Our World...one unused juice box at a time!! (It's too bad my Coke can consumption wipes that out...)
For fun, I did send one of the individual packets of Crystal Light lemonade for them to mix into their watter bottles one day. They thought that was fun! I like to keep things exciting in the lunchbox world...Well, as exciting as you can make a turkey sandwich every single day!
