As part of my Bedroom Makeover on a Shoestring Budget, I posted the embarrassing picture of the BEFORE! slobby stack of books beside my bed...as well as the new and improved (Ta da!) books inside my nightstand. I don't know about you, but I love knowing what people are currently reading. I thought I'd give you a better peek at the books in my reading stack.
I pulled some of them out, so you could get a better look. Recognize any you've read before? (Or, perhaps you recognize some of the ones I have borrowed from YOU! Don't worry--I'll get them back!) See any that resonate with you?
I'll tell you one that is especially meaningful to me. Do you see on the left--My Utmost for His Highest? That is actually a daily devotional, and a journal. It's not a journal I have written in...but it is filled. 365 days' worth. Maybe sometime I'll tell you about it...
The two parenting books on the front right--The Explosive Child and Raising your Spirited Child were like a cool glass of water for me in the midst of an especially traumatic season of parenting. I need to return them to my kind friend who not only loaned both books to me, but also shared some wisdom and a listening ear.
That maroon Bible on the front right I have had since junior high. It is worn, and falling apart. But, I can't bear to replace it. It has carried me through some difficult times. Its words have brought me peace and joy and understanding. I know that, literally, it is just paper and bindings. But, it feels more like a wise old friend, whose company I would miss.
For the most part, that's all I can share about these books...because I haven't read the others. Yet. (Said with a smile!)
What's in your reading stack right now? What books are especially meaningful to you?
