Weekend Wrap-Up
Ah, Monday morning…Are you armed with a cup of hot coffee, sitting bleary-eyed in front of the computer, not quite ready to face the day? I sure am! Well, except for the fact that I am armed with my (recent) morning drink of choice—Diet Dr. Pepper. Umm. Now, don’t get me wrong, I am a hard-core Coca Cola girl…but lately the DDP has been especially good in the mornings.
Here’s a quick weekend in review:
- The Bedroom Makeover on a Shoestring? Well, I was HATING those words after 12 hours of painting on Saturday. Boy oh boy am I sore! Here are a few pics to show you how it started. Please be patient with the AFTER pictures. A girl has to have time to hang curtain rods, iron curtains, buy new lamps (skip right over that part, dear husband!), figure out a headboard (that part, too!), and decide on some artwork for over the bed. If I can get my hands on a good batch of speed, I can get all of that done in a few days. (I’m just kidding, people!!! Just seeing if you’re awake yet!)
So the big wall color secret is out!! Betwitching Blue by Sherwin Williams. I know, I know--it's not a shocking choice for me. I mean, blue is practically my signature color. (Well, blue, red, and yellow.) The rooms in my house are like Garanimals...for furniture. But, what a soothing blue it is. Sitting here right now, looking at it, and feeling peaceful. Or, is that just the paint fumes?
Reasons #1,2,3,4,5 that it took 12 hours to paint this bedroom! If asking lots of questions, asking when can I paint when can I paint, and playing at the "motel" in the middle of the room constitutes helping...then I had a LOT of HELP!!! Sorry about the unclothed doll. I'm just keeping it real here. Ah, but notice what we were watching on the laptop--Pride and Prejudice. Nothing bonds a mother and her daughters during a terrible, terrible project like some Jane Austen. Smile.
2. I hope you all had a sweet Valentine’s Day! I think because my birthday is so close, I have always really loved Valentine’s. This year is no exception. Our girls were thrilled with their new Baby Zsu Zsu pets, as well as some of the “tubes.” I am sorry, but I have a problem where the Zsu Zsu’s are concerned. I think I want to collect them myself. I just love the whole set-up—the way they squeak and run around, run through the tubes, run in their little ball, and even drive a car. I am such a sucker for marketing, I know. Maybe what I need to cure me of this Zsu Zsu fascination is a REAL hamster…
3. Let me comment quickly on our TWO (yea!!!) Valentine meals out today…
#1)Fuddrucker’s fry dipping sauce is the what it’s all about! Oh, and also their new Vlassic pickles. (Right, Jimmy?)
#2) Nothing says Happy Valentine’s to your honey like some chips and salsa and a good Coke! Hooray for yummy Mexican food! We had such a funny waitress tonight. I do appreciate a spunky waitress with a dry sense of humor. Before picking up our basket of chips she said, “Both of you pick up a chip. Now ya’ll munch on that while I refill your basket.”
4. Okay, here goes! I am going to try to post my FIRST link to another blog! I have been reading Hollywood Housewife's blog for over a year...and have been LOVING it! Actually, she just changed her blog name and design recently...She was formerly the Peacoat Papers. I know this writer--and reading her writing is JUST like hearing her talk. She is funny and smart, and has the cutest new baby girl. Okay, I'll stop gushing. Just go read her post about her love of Dr. Pepper. It rivals my love of Coke. And I laughed out loud.
5. And lastly, my mom and dad have started reading my blog...and that just thrills me, but also makes me a little nervous. (Ya'll didn't laugh at the "speed" joke at the beginning, did you, Mom and Dad?) Actually, they both have been very complimentary and kind. (As usual!) The one suggestion they did ask about (I'm sure after reading my Bachelor comments) was, "Are you going to write anything spiritual?" So, Mom and Dad, in your honor, occasionally, I want to post a Bible verse from what I am currently reading. You see, as part of my Turning 40 Campaign, I am reading through the Bible this year using the Chronological Bible. One of today's verses might even relate to my decorating on a shoestring...
February 14...Exodus 36:14 &15.."They made curtains out of goat hair for the tent over the tabernacle--eleven together. All eleven curtains were the same size--thirty cubits long and four cubits wide."
Now, go do the right thing!
