Welcome to Day 4 of Doing Things a Little Differently Week! In preparation for Easter, I wanted to be a little more serious this week, a little more deliberate with my words here.
If you have read my blog this week, you've seen Jesus enter Jerusalem on Day 1, the same day the Jews were to select an unblemished lamb for sacrifice. On Day 2, Jesus cleansed the temple of the dishonest moneychangers so that he could enter the Temple to teach Parables and answer the Pharisees questions with questions and scripture on Day 3.
Day 4 tugs at my heart a little. Day 4 Jesus chooses to spend with His dearest friends--his disciples. He knows His time left on Earth is short, and He wants to spend it explaining some of the things about to happen to Him to his beloved disciples. I just love what He tells them as they all gather together in the upper room for their Passover feast,
"I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; for I say to you, I shall never again eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God." -Luke 22:15-16
Wouldn't it be amazing to be one of Jesus' chosen to spend His last meal together in communion? To be there at the table with Jesus as He explains what is about to happen...
And, yet, I am chosen.
Not for that table, in that time.
But, now. In communion with Him now. And forevermore.
Wow.
It reminds me of who I would want with me, at a last meal? Who would I want surrounding me, and what would we talk about?
