Today, I was reading back through some old journal entries, and I was just struck.
Struck by how far I had come in some ways.
A lot of the entries I was reading were written when my oldest was in 1st and 2nd grade, and my youngest was on the battlefield of her 2nd and 3rd year.
Wow, those were some hard years. There were some desperate entries where I wrote with tears dragging down my cheeks...frantically typing to try to make sense of the latest episode.
And there were sweet entries of respite. Days--or even moments of time--where I felt peace. In those moments, I wrote to remember that delicious peaceful moment.
Today, I'd love to share with you one of those moments of peace. It comes to you courtesy of November, 2007....
Lately I am thankful for:
1. A faith that sustains me by giving me stability and hope and joy.
2. A husband who loves me, and is willing to serve me and laugh with me along the journey.
3. Two daughters, who not only fill my heart with utter contentment, but who can stretch me to my very limits, where either giggles--or tears--help soothe and soften the stretching.
4. It's the little things in life:
Ice cold Coca-Cola
Paper towels
A treadmill
A good pillow
And soft sheets
5. A quiet house, a soft bed, and a good book
6. E-mail!!!! Blogs!!! People.com!! (You KNOW I'm keeping it real, since I'm leaving that here!)
7. Friends who are traveling this journey with me
8. Airplane tickets, Panama City Beach, sunshine, chairs on the sand, motorcycles, and good friends
9. Good--or lame--t.v. shows: The Office, Lost, Amazing Race, Survivor, Project Runway, 24
10. My sisters, and a family who not only loves each other, but has fun together!
What about your peaceful moments?
What are you thankful for?
