Just in case you didn't catch the big reveal of my daughter's room makeover for her 10th birthday, I'll post another picture. I just can't help myself. The turquoise blue and candy apple green have wrapped me around their pretty little fingers. I just can't stop walking into the room and marveling at all the COLOR and FUN and POLKA DOTS. I just love it!
But, let me state right here and now...I am in NO WAY bragging. Goodness gracious, I KNOW BETTER! I totally understand that I am no interior designer--or anything close. I'm not even a vo-tec decoratin' student. They barely even send Pottery Barn catalog to my mailbox...but since I bought those pink and white gingham curtains once, they keep trying to reel me back in.
I am just showing you these pictures because I am so proud of the hard work we have done to pull it all together as a gift for my creative, color-loving daughter for her 10th birthday. And I'm not saying I won't brag about HER. She's brag-worthy. Just not her dorky mama who gets herself into trouble constantly by trying to do too many projects at once.
Well, look at me going on and on, when ALL YOU WANT are the details, man! So, here ya go!
And, in case you need a visual reference for the items I am about to list, here 'tis:
Wall Color - Sherwin Williams Cloudless in satin finish (The Super Paint did it in ONE coat!)
Darling white polka dot sheer curtains - Target (polka dots are velvet, ooh la la!)
Striped curtain panels - sorry, these were custom-made...by a dear friend (thank you, Janna!!!) However, the fabric was purchased at an AMAZING store in Springfield, MO. More on that at the bottom of this post!!
White wood curtain rod with brackets - Lowe's ($20 per window--I LOVE these rods!!)
Cute wall letters - Hobby Lobby (I thought about painting them, or adding some patterns like dots or stripes...but decided in the end, simple is better.)
Luxurious turquoise faux fur throw blanket - Target (probably my daughter's favorite thing!)
Polka dot wall decals - Wal-Mart (in the frame aisle) These are removable AND re-stickable!!
Hope chest cushion - Custom-made...but the fabulous (and I mean FABULOUS) seamstress who made this has an Etsy site!
Doo Doo brown comforter - Target (Well, what color would YOU call it?)
Oh, how I wish I could take credit for this perfect attention to detail! But, sadly, all of that adulation goes to my Etsy friend. My daughter requested that soft minky dot fabric for the back of the throw pillow.
The blue "mooshy pillow" (that's what we call them!)- Target - in the $1 aisle for $2.50!! (Hmm, that sentence makes absolutely no sense! But, I bet you know what I mean!)
Ivory pressed tin wall basket - Southern Living at Home (I bought this about 5 years ago...but I bet they still have it.)
Fun gerber daisies - Michael's (Sorry, they were 40% off last week...)
Oh--but wait!--THERE'S MORE!
Don't you want to know about the AMAZING BEST-EVER FABRIC STORE in MISSOURI?
Oh man, I wish I weren't so chicken. I was just there today, and WANTED to take a picture to show you the store's amazing-ness...but, there were so many people around, and well, I am just a big chicken. One of those please don't stare at me, or even draw any attention my way kind of a chicken.
The BEST-EVER FABRIC STORE is called FM Stores, and it is located in Springfield, MO. If you live within a day's drive, I would say the drive is WORTH IT if you have a project that requires fabric (or fringe--I have NEVER seen more fringe selections in one place!!!)
FM Stores is wonderful because they have a HUGE selection of decorator fabric--all grouped together by color. Lots of sweet little ladies work there, and are so helpful and knowledgeable. And the best part? Most all of the decorator fabric is--are you ready???--$6.49 per yard. I am not even kidding you. Oh, they do have a couple of things more expensive...today, I bought a small piece of the prettiest iridescent 100% silk you have ever seen in your whole entire life for $7.99 a yard. Every time one of those sweet ladies rings up my total, I ask her if she's sure she rang up everything, and shouldn't I pay some more money? Just kidding...I pay my money, grab my stuff, and run out of there before they realize what a steal of a BARGAIN I just got!!
Well, those are all the details I have for today. Plus, I am plum worn out from all the linking. Boy, I sure wish Target was paying me for all the Linky Love...cause I sure pay them a lot every time I'm there (not really, dear husband. Really--I only spend the exact budgeted amount, for only those items that are truly necessary, truly.)
Stop by again soon--because I am working on a super fun custom bulletin board! Well, let's just say it will be super fun if it TURNS OUT. Somehow, the perfect images in my brain usually become the improvise until it comes close project!!!
