Surely by now we've all heard the story about the young woman who cut the end off her roast, and put both pieces into her roasting pan...Even though the entire roast would have easily fit. Why did she cut off the end of the roast? Cause that's the way her mama taught her! Little did the young woman know that her mama's roasting pan was too small, and she always had to cut off the end of the roast!
I was reminded of this story just yesterday as I was making some strawberry jello. After mixing up the jello, I put a piece of Saran Wrap over my jello. Only, I didn't stretch the wrap across the edges of the dish. Nope, my mama taught me to BE SURE to have the wrap adhere directly to the jello--so that there are no icky stiff jello parts.
Like this:
As I was carefully pushing the plastic wrap down to touch the jello, I wondered if this trick really works--or if it really doesn't matter at all??? Honestly? I have no idea. I have never even tried it the other way.
What do you think? Does it matter?
Here are a couple of other things my mama taught me to do...
Make my bed with the top sheet facing down--printed side down, so that when you turn down the covers, they are right side up!
Make my bed with hospital corners...although, some days I am lucky just to get clean sheets on the bed...much less with hospital corners!
Speaking of clean sheets--you ALWAYS wash sheets on Mondays. Other days just won't do!
You should have tea kettle on your stove at all times--ready to go. I'm sure she learned this from her tea-loving mama!
A lady should always accessorize with pretty jewelry and scarves. Don't worry--I have already taught my girls this one! Again, I am sure my mama learned from her mama, who was famous for her accessorizing!
I'd love to hear from YOU! What are some things your mama taught you, that you never waver from?
Oh, and don't worry--I'm not leaving out my dear dad! I have a whole future post planned for things my dad taught me! But, first--I have to sneak into his closet and snap a picture. A picture of his beautifully, perfectly, amazingly organized closet will help illustrate where I get some of my OCD more organized traits!
Happy Weekend, ya'll! I hope you all have time to kick back, relax, and eat some bon bons! Lucky for me--a very sweet reader sent me some bon bons!!! Can you imagine? I have no idea where she got the idea that I like bon bons! By the way...have I ever mentioned how much I also love Gold-Haribo gummi bears? Oh I have! Silly me...
