(I don't know if you caught our Dueling Blog Post last time, but on a fun night out, my friend Carissa and I decided both to write blog posts about our night, link up to each other, and compare our description of the night. We had so much fun, that we have been waiting for the chance to "duel" again!!)
.....
On a recent trip with some girlfriends to the beach, we all decided beforehand to bring a surprise spa product to share, and have Spa Night while we were there. As you'll be able to tell from the pictures, we may not be spa divas, but we had SO much FUN! Carissa and I knew that night, that we HAD to write about it, and duel it out again! Here goes!
(If at any time you get bored over here...feel free to click on over to Carissa's version of Spa Night!)
What products did we bring? Here they are--all ready for Spa Night to BEGIN!
Cast of characters:
front row, left to right
1. Pumice stone
2. Nail art pen
3. Papaya, smashed and ready
4. Biore' strips
Back row, left to right
5. Microdermabrasion by Mary Kay (of course!)
6. Age renewing lotion, by Walmart
7. Cutex nail polish remover pads (love love!!!)
8. Wild and wacky (and cheap!) nail polish colors
Should I mention who brought each item? I think so, don't you? Carissa brought the papaya...but really, it was her mom Charlene who suggested it. Carissa was trying to tell us she couldn't think of anything to bring, but Charlene came to the rescue! Charlene rocks!!! (I am not so sure Carissa will confess this in her version, so I'm tattling!) Charlene instructed Carissa over the phone exactly what to look for in a good facial papaya...because, evidently, the grocery doesn't market their papayas for their facial properties.
Now, remember--this is straight papaya, just mushed up. (smashed? chopped? What's the right word here?) It was really weird getting the papaya onto our faces. We had to sort of pat it into place.
Seriously??? Does Jenn have to be so stinking CUTE...even with papaya mush all over her face and hands? It kind of makes me mad. And, uhm, do you think she's trying to make JAZZ HANDS there? The Drill Team spirit never dies, people.
I think it was at this point, someone made the discovery...that papaya smells just like VOMIT on your face. (I am just stating the facts, madam.)
Like I said, we're discerning women!
You know the papaya has done its magic when it dries, and when your face feels very "tight." You can tell my papaya is ready--because I am actually SMILING in the picture above, and my eyes have stopped blinking.
Oh, maybe I exaggerate just a bit.
Oh, and did I fail to mention that a reality television show's schedule played heavily into our plan? Yes, well, Sister Wives was on--with its premiere and second episode. We had just enough time to finish the papaya before moving to the couches to watch the show that had been intriguing us with its commercials all week. I mean, we moved to the couches to begin working on our feet. This is all about Spa Night, right?
We are FANCY with our spa techniques, no? At this point, Sonja said, "I am NEVER eating cooked food here again!!!" Which...we all agreed...especially since the only food ever consumed here by our group is: yogurt, Greek yogurt (because it's better for you...so they say), chips, salsa, and candy. Oh wait--I forgot ice cream and slice and bake cookies...which technically, are a cooked item. Score! Maybe I can have Sonja's cookies!!
Jenn has graciously brought us hot pans of water to soak our feet, in preparation for Jenn's spa item: The Pumice Stone. (Doesn't it sound official and domineering all capitalized?)
Let the pumicing commence!
Gross. Aren't you so happy I am posting pictures of us scraping dead skin off our feet? I am shameless...But, I do it all in the name of promoting Spa Nights everywhere. For everyone. For the good of all womankind. Okay, I'll be quiet now.
Oh, and isn't it wonderful that Jenn's spa treatment came with full service help to those who needed some extra tutoring?
Next up: Sonja's Cutex polish remover pads. We all voted these AMAZING!! Well, I think we did. I know I could not stop myself from saying over and over again, "Gosh, this works GREAT." "I have never removed polish so easily." "Gosh this works GREAT." "I have never removed polish so easily."
You get the idea.
What funny nail polishing happens at the beach...STAYS at the beach... We had 3 funky colors to choose from: green, teal, and purple. We all voted the teal the worst, and the purple the best. Oh, and do not let me forget to praise Dawn for her contribution of the white nail art pen. What's a pedicure without a monogram???
...Also...What's a Spa Night without a little Intermission? Mmm, warm cookies!...
Break's over!...BACK TO WORK, ladies!
I now present to you...myself! Presenting my contribution to Spa Night: Biore' Strips. I had been intrigued by Biore' Strips ever since Hollywood Housewife posted a picture of her husband's before and after strips.
Girls, you KNEW we were posting these pics, right? I feel like I am looking at a post-rhinoplasty picture. Just like that old saying..."The friends that rhinoplasty together, stay together." Sadly, we don't have any gross-you-out After pictures. I guess that would have been embarassing for the girl with the grossest gunk pulled from her pores. Thankfully, our pores seemed pretty clear.
And now for the LAST Spa Treatment. (You thought this post would NEVER END, didn't you? Well, that's just rude. After all the heart and soul I have poured into this post.)
Ladies: Abraid...Microabraid?...Microderm?... SCRUB your faces via microdermabrasion! We all love the freshly-scrubbed feeling, and the age renewing lotion after. Thank you, Dawn, for taking at least 3 days off each of our faces!
For some reason, this picture just warms my heart. And I'm not even being funny--I really like this pic! I am not EVEN going to make a Sister Wives comment here...because, well...my mom would fuss at me. And fussing makes me nervous.
Oopsie! Looks like Spa Night had TWO desserts!! But, what a way to end...With Blue Bell's Happy Tracks. Perfect ending to a perfect night with dear friends and funny spa treatments. And seriously? Don't Jenn's and Carissa's faces look positively freshly scrubbed and glowing!!! THAT is what a little Spa Night (and ice cream, evidently) will do for a girl!
You should try it!
Now--QUICK--click on over to Carissa's blog to read HER VERSION!!!! Remember, this is a Dueling Blog Post!
