Smallish kitchen. We don't have a tiny kitchen, but our smallish galley kitchen has very limited cabinet space. I used to struggle to find places for our larger appliances. When my husband surprised me with the glorious Kitchenaid stand mixer (*cue the angel chorus*), I knew something had to give.
Limited counter space. I sure didn't have cabinet space for the Kitchenaid, and I didn't have the counter space, either...unless my husband were to give up his coffee maker...which seemed a little unfair. I figure if he lets me keep my Cokes, I ought to let him keep his coffee. I call this decision: Everybody's happy.
Light bulb moment. In trying to think outside the box (the kitchen box, that is), I realized we had an unused bookshelf stored in our basement. Ding ding ding! We have a WINNER!! All of the appliances fit on the unused bookshelf just perfectly!
Burn, baby burn. Now, I realize that I have to lug these items up and down the stairs when I need to use them. But, for now, I figure it keeps me young! Plus, remember those Cokes I like to drink? I figure I can burn off a sip or two--especially when I am carrying the Kitchenaid!
What about you? Where do you store these large types of appliances?
Our little secret. (Oh, and the Mr. Snowman sno cone maker you see there? That thing needs to disappear! I HATE the noise it makes when it shaves the ice...gives me the chills right now just imagining it!! Plus, you turn the handle, turn the handle, turn the handle until you have a blister, only to find that you've shaved exactly 3 teaspoons of ice! Can I get an AMEN on the disappearing act of Mr. Snowman?!! But, shhhh, that's our little secret...right?)
